Curriculum Assistant

Rate of pay: $10.10/hour

Work location: Iowa Memorial Union

What you will learn

You can expect to learn skills such as time management, balancing priorities, creating engaging content, managing consistency in curriculum materials, and interpersonal communication.  Although your job in the Division of Student Life may not be directly related to your future profession, the skills you learn here will help you in your chosen career path and give you valuable work experience to strengthen your resume.

Basic job function

Serve as a representative of the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership (CSIL) and assist in the summer update of course curriculum administered by CSIL.


  • Discuss course, objectives, and goals weekly with supervisor.
  • Review course readings and videos, suggest additions or subtractions.
  • Review course activities and assignments, suggest ways to make clear and engaging.
  • Review course content against other Leadership Studies courses, remove duplication.
  • Update syllabus with updated instructor information, review for correct policies and grading scale.
  • Organize instructor information, including updating daily sheets and training materials.
  • Compile a brief instructor outline on how to use Zoom and ideas of how (for weather related cancellations).
  • Consider how to provide more student information regarding ICON, Zoom, and other technologies.
  • Consider how students engage in service learning project and timeline.
  • Maintain confidential information.
  • Assist with branding of all materials and transition materials to universal design.
  • Print, order, and organize all materials needed for instructors.


  • Registered UI student.
  • Must be able to work short term until July 1, up to forty hours per week.
  • Knowledge of leadership theories and service learning pedagogy.
  • Superior communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
