Hawkeye Softball Complex Supervisor

Rate of pay: $9.50/hour

Work location: Hawkeye Softball Complex (2001 Highway 6 West Iowa City, IA 52242)

Basic job function

Oversee the operation of the Hawkeye Softball Complex (HSC) for the benefit of the softball participants during tournaments, practices and other events.  This position requires a mature individual with good communication and leadership and management skills.  

Responsibilities

  • Enforces facility policies and procedures (accessibility issues, rules of activity).
  • Carries out security measures (proper opening and closing duties, accountability for building keys etc.).
  • Responds to facility emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc).
  • Maintain all facility areas (including fields, restrooms, common areas, and bleachers stadium seating).
  • Assist in the set-up of activity areas for variety of internal & external groups (includes concession stand, press box, softball fields).
  • Provides support for special events, as needed.
  • Ensures outstanding customer service.
  • Works cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
  • Promotes a safe, clean, functional and marketable facility.
  • Performs other work as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations.
  • Mandatory attendance at seasonal training meetings.
  • Ability to use independent judgment when needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working at UI Recreational Services is preferred.

Work hours

  • Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that may include early mornings, late evening and weekends.

Training requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Recreational Service Orientation
