Housing Ambassador

Rate of pay: $9.50/hour

Work location: Stanley Residence Hall

You can expect to learn skills such as time management, conflict resolution, balancing priorities, attention to detail, interpersonal communication, customer service experience, and working with people from diverse backgrounds and working as part of a team.  Although your job in the Division of Student Life may not be directly related to your future profession, the skills you learn here will help you in your chosen career path and give you valuable work experience to strengthen your resume.

Basic job function

Assist with educational and informative community development initiatives under the direction of the Residence Education Staff. The Housing Ambassador is a crucial link between Residence Education and Orientation Services.  This team of students will plan late night activities for students staying in the residence halls for summer orientation as well as provide Residence Hall tours during Orientation.


  • Assist the Residence Education Staff with the creation and implementation of the activities for the summer orientation late night events, including planning the event, purchasing supplies, room reservations, etc.
  • Provide Residence Hall tours for incoming students and their families.
  • Assist with the Orientation Information Fair.
  • Execute late night programs for all summer orientation sessions, which includes set up and take down.
  • Support the summer orientation staff in talking with incoming students and provide accurate information on and about campus resources and making referrals as necessary.
  • Assist with the upkeep and organization of the Resource Room.
  • Serve as a positive role model for the students and the programmer team.


  • Required to work the orientation late night events, which are from 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM throughout the summer.
  • Required to give Residence Hall tours during the 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Staff meetings may also be required.
  • This position is only for the duration of the summer.
