Buying Group Assistant

Rate of pay: $10.10/hour

Work location: Iowa Memorial Union

Basic job function

Assist Manager of General Merchandise and Merchandise Buyers in inventory control, merchandising, marketing and promotions and inventory placement on the website, including assisting in Web/Catalog product descriptions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in verifying product information, locations and on hand counts in system to actual are correct.
  • Assist Buying group with product selection and participating in vendor product meetings.
  • Assist in new merchandise placement and product data descriptions on ePOS database. Work with Marketing and Retail groups to get merchandise published to Hawk Shop website.   
  • Create and prepare spreadsheets with new product information provided by Buying Group.
  • Assist in tracking and inter-store merchandise transfers for concessions and special events.
  • Review Catalog/Web backorder reports and report merchandise status.
  • Assist buying group in preparing and entering re-orders of designated product.
  • Maintain working relationships with Retail Operations, Administrative Services Group and Marketing and design.
  • Must be able to work at all UBS/Hawk Shop locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel including work with formulas in existing spreadsheets.
  • Prefer ability to create spreadsheets using templates and worksheets, create and work with formulas and ability to import and export data.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Retail experience desirable.

Work hours

  • Available during summer break period.
  • This position is limited to up to 20 hours per week (320 hours per semester).
