Data Analyst Assistant

Rate of pay: $10.40/hour

Work location: Iowa Memorial Union

Basic job function

Assist the Assistant Director of University Book Stores and Hawk Shops by providing data analysis, database creation and maintenance and data entry support.

Responsibilities

  • Export files from Point of Sale Programs and Web Client into MS Excel and/or MS Access to create and/or update existing databases.
  • Create and/or maintain MS Excel spread sheets for the purpose of data analysis.
  • Maintain State Sales tax records.
  • Maintain Web Catalog customer database.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual sales reports.
  • Maintain University Book Store internal web site.
  • Perform data entry tasks.

Qualifications

  • Experience with MS Excel, MS Access, MS FrontPage and SQL.  Applicants need to have an understanding of how to import data from MS Excel into MS Access and then create relational databases and queries.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently, effectively independently.
