Weekend Manager

Rate of pay: $10.70/hour

Work location: Iowa Memorial Union

Basic job function

Act as a representative of Iowa House Management during night and weekend hours by assuming general responsibility for the front desk operations and guest relations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform desk clerk duties involving a thorough working knowledge of all policies and procedures.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient Iowa House operations.
  • Provide functional supervision to student desk clerks.
  • Prepare an accurate shift report to include a summary of weekend activities, any operational concerns or irregular activities.
  • Good working knowledge of door lock system and POS system and call in procedures.
  • Attend weekly meetings with Front Desk Management to obtain necessary information and direction about weekend activities.
  • Attend managers meetings as scheduled.
  • Understand billing and accounting procedures to troubleshoot problems as they arise and to assist the night auditor.
  • Working knowledge of Housekeeping Operations.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with Housekeeping managers.
  • Coordinate room status with Housekeeping staff.
  • Perform after hour Housekeeping duties.

Qualifications

  • 1 semester Iowa House experience.
  • Must be flexible and available to work rotating weekends and two weekday evening shifts.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently is necessary.
  • Some supervisory experience or leadership experience is necessary.
  • Some bookkeeping or accounting knowledge is highly desirable.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and meet Fleet Safety requirements.
