Outreach Coordinator - Student Legal Services

Rate of pay: $10.50/hour

Work location: Iowa Memorial Union

Basic job function

Coordinate outreach efforts via social media, event planning, and general office promotion. Act as a representative of Student Legal Services and use acquired knowledge to respond to internal and external customers in a respectful, courteous, and helpful manner.


  • Assist with general office duties, including but not limited to, answering the phone, copying, scanning, filing, creating and maintaining spreadsheets & reports, etc.
  • Maintain confidential information.
  • Answer phone and communicate information quickly and precisely.
  • Assist with scheduling and rescheduling appointments and associated tasks.
  • Become proficient in utilizing the FileMaker Pro system.
  • Assist with promoting and staffing outreach programs including student orientations and SLS events.
  • Coordinate and plan social media promotional posts regarding SLS and SLS related events, opportunities and services.
  • Work closely with Marketing & Design to create and distribute materials on time.
  • General office upkeep including: sending/receiving/logging all incoming and outgoing mail, watering plants, maintaining a clean and organized office environment, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects, showing flexibility and willingness to help in diverse situations.


  • Work-study preferred, though not required
  • Previous marketing experience, clerical, and computer experience highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Ability to exercise a high level of discretion
  • Maintain agreed upon schedule and arrive to shifts on time
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize competing work and academic commitments with own personal obligations
