Climbing Wall Attendant
Location: Campus Recreation & Wellness Center (CRWC)
Rate of pay: $11.50/hour
Hiring status: Currently hiring
Open to non-UI students: No
Check in climbers, supervise the wall, instruct climbing lessons, administer safety checks, risk management control, assist with LLS climbing classes and maintain a safe climbing area. May also assist at the Outdoor Rental Center.
Responsibilities
• Knowledge of all policies and procedures of facilities, programs, equipment and operations.
• Responds to all building emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc)
• General understanding of the operations of Touch the Earth as well as other Recreational Services departments.
• Greets climbers while checking them into the climbing area.
• Assist to keep facilities/equipment in excellent condition while also providing great customer service to our members.
• Works cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
• Promotes a safe, clean, functional and marketable facility.
• Performs other work as assigned.
Qualifications
• Have a current Top Rope Approval Card, preferably from the UI.
• Previous climbing experience.
• Outstanding customer service skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations.
• Mandatory attendance at training meetings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment.
• A passion for the outdoors!
