Participate in the cleaning, set up and support services associated with use of meeting and dining facilities as well as assisting with the general cleaning and upkeep of lounge and other public spaces of the Iowa Memorial Union.
Responsibilities
• Perform set up duties consisting of setting tables, chairs, staging, lectures, dance floors and other equipment needed based on the scheduled event.
• Clean meeting and public spaces involving vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, dusting and other associated cleaning activities.
• Assist as an usher at large concerts, speeches, films, or lectures as necessary.
• Participate in various building projects involving the movement and/or relocation of furniture, sign stands, etc.
• Participate in the recycling of paper, cardboard, newspaper and other items. Ensure proper removal and/or disposal.
• Assist day and evening custodial staff with the cleaning of restrooms, public areas, and outdoor area surrounding the IMU.
• Assist mechanic in lifting and moving of materials, painting, and light construction work with direct supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Must be open to working flexible schedule of days, evenings and some weekends ranging from 6am in the morning until 3am at night.
• Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instruction.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to climb ladders and operate powered lifts after proper training is received.
