The Division of Student Life: University Housing & Dining is seeking a Temporary Custodian I for summer custodial services. Under direct supervision, the Temporary Custodian I performs a variety of tasks including cleaning student rooms, trash removal, and furniture relocation.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning/sanitizing student rooms and public spaces in all residence halls
• Trash removal; inside and outside of buildings
• Floor work including vacuuming and scrubbing
• Service to horizontal and vertical surfaces including glass, walls, ceilings, and light fixtures
• Bed configurations, moving furniture, load/unload trucks
• Use of commercial custodial equipment
• Professional communication with students, staff, coworkers, and visitors
• Position includes labor intensive work including lifting, pushing, and pulling

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
• Must be able to perform heavy physical labor and stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to move up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to climb a ladder up to 12 feet
• Must be able to work in heat, humidity, and dust
• Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals
• Good attendance and reliability
• Provide a high level of communication

• Criminal Background Check, if applicable
