Assist with the provision of academic accommodations approved through Student Disability Services.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with faculty, staff and students throughout the various steps in the exam accommodation process
• Manage correspondence for the office that can include phone calls, emails and Skype in a professional manner
• Perform clerical duties such as copying, scanning, and filing
• Maintain attention to detail while performing data entry
• Check in students for appointments
• Proctor exams including scribing exams as needed
• Ability to learn necessary software used in the office
• Assist with exam/scheduling/media problems
• Convert media to an accessible format
• Make personal and professional decisions congruent with departmental and university expectations 
• Exhibit behavior expected of a professional and respect confidential information
• Work accurately and independently
• Attend staff meetings and professional development trainings as scheduled by supervisor or department 
• Respect all persons from various backgrounds, races, sexual or affectional orientation, gender identity, religion, abilities, etc. 

Qualifications

• Registered UI graduate student in good conduct and academic standing
• Must be punctual and dependable
• Demonstrated team player with positive attitude
• Ability to efficiently and effectively complete assigned tasks
• Working experience with computer systems
• Assist in onboarding peer Accommodation Assistants
• Ability to work with students with various disabilities, learning styles, and needs 
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills  
• Ability to problem solve as issues and conflicts occur
• Initiative to learn new skills and assume more responsibility 

Training requirements

• HIPAA Training
• Sexual Harassment Training
