Baker
Location: Burge Residence Hall and Iowa Memorial Union
Rate of pay: $12.00/hour ($14.00/hour between 12 AM - 4 AM for overnight bakers)

Perform various tasks including the preparation of desserts and baked goods, and cleaning/sanitation duties which support the operations of a large-scale food service operation.
Responsibilities
• Prepare hot and cold food including cooking, baking, recipe reading, measuring, and cutting
• Work with kitchen staff on catering and special events
• Assist in restocking bakery and keep area organized
• Work in dish area as needed including scraping, cleaning and putting away dishes
• Clean and sanitize tables and other surfaces. Follow proper sanitation procedures including sweeping and mopping
• Demonstrate civil and respectful interactions with others
• Dress in proper work attire per department guidelines
• May use departmental vehicle to deliver items to designated areas.
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Enrolled as student at the University of Iowa(during academic year)
• Demonstrated commitment to GREAT customer service
• Must be a motivated self-starter and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) and be positive and respectful in working with a diverse population
• Must be dependable and reliable
• Some baking experience is desired but not required
• Prefer valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain the University Fleet Safety Program driving standards.
• Must be able to work through finals week
• Must be able to move up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time
