Financial Systems Assistant

Rate of pay: $10.53/hour

Work location: Burge Residence Hall

Basic job function

Assist in the day-to-day operations of the University Housing & Dining Administration Business group.


  • Accurately enter food service vendor invoices into the CBORD System by manually creating an order, entering the item number, quantity, price per unit and approving receipt of the invoice.
  • Approve requisition transfers in the CBORD System by verifying the product, the product quantity, and by ensuring the product units match the product purchases.
  • Generate an invoice summary report and audit daily entries.
  • Enter and code each invoice daily for reporting.
  • Utilizes calculator and computer skills continuously.
  • Performs routine sorting, alphabetizing and filing.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


  • Enrolled as a student at the University of Iowa (during academic year).
  • Must have proficient 10-key skills.
  • Reasonable experience in handling multiple assignments, conflicting demands or priorities.
  • Good mathematical/bookkeeping skills.
  • Reasonable experience in using computers, including Word, Excel, and email.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and be positive and respectful in working with a diverse population.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Must be able to work during academic break periods (Thanksgiving, winter, spring and summer breaks).
