OLSCE - Student Involvement Ambassador

Rate of pay: $10.10/hour

Work location: Iowa Memorial Union

You can expect to learn skills such as time management, conflict resolution, balancing priorities, attention to detail, interpersonal communication, customer service experience, and working with people from diverse backgrounds and working as part of a team. Although your job in the Division of Student Life may not be directly related to your future profession, the skills you learn here will help you in your chosen career path and give you valuable work experience to strengthen your resume.

Basic job function

Serve as an ambassador of the Office of Leadership, Service, & Civic Engagement, and the Office of Student Engagement and Campus Programs by assisting registered student organizations.


  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students regarding late night programming requirements as part of the Office of Leadership, Service, & Civic Engagement Grant Funding.
  • Facilitate workshops and trainings for recognized student organizations (i.e. new org orientation, organizational/professional development presentations, and harm reduction).
  • Consult with and provide guidance and resources to individual organizations and organizational leaders.
  • Plan and implement annual networking and development events for student org leaders and members.
  • Provide peer to peer support for students struggling to find involvement opportunities.
  • Answer questions regarding student organization policies, events, and registration.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, showing flexibility and willingness to help in diverse situations.


  • Registered UI student.
  • Must be in good academic and judicial standings.
  • Must be able to work five or more hours per week.
  • Knowledge of registered student organization policies, procedures, and regulations is desired.
  • Experience in registered student organizations, student leadership, and/or campus programming is required.
  • Superior communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
